Amanda Petersen
Amanda Petersen, program director of FocusedKids, spent 13 years working as a kindergarten teacher at Basalt Elementary School in Basalt, Colorado. During her time at Basalt Elementary School, Amanda was a leader in promoting and teaching programs that give students the tools they need to function social-emotionally so they are ready for academic success. These programs included MindUP, Capturing Kids Hearts, and FocusedKids.
In 2018, Amanda became the program director for FocusedKids full time. During the 2018-2019 school year, Amanda worked in over 50 classrooms in the Roaring Fork School District, along with local private preschools to work with teachers and classrooms to build the FocusedKids model into their classroom. She has also been working with parents by leading small parenting classes on how to create more calm and happiness in the home, using the new module, Focused Families.
As well as working alongside Kathy, she began her Masters of Arts degree in the Winter of 2018. Her program will have an emphasis on clinical mental health.
